Additional Comments: I only ended up at this bran because I woke up extremely early and hungry and saw my friend was online, so I messaged him suggesting it, expecting him to say no, but then in a few hours we were in Edgware! It’s easy to find, just over the road from Edgware station on the Northern line, this is the first time I’ve been to Edgware, and I’ve no idea what’s in the surrounding area as I was only there for Nando’s. There was only a few tables occupied when we arrived, it was about 12:30 on a Thursday.
Friendliness of Staff – The staff were very friendly at this branch, the Nandoca who greeted us was smiley and happy and let us choose whichever table we wanted, we sat in the corner next to the window and we had the menus laid out in front of us, obviously I don’t use mine and my friend just chose what I told him to, the Nandoca serving us was nice and friendly as well, they all seemed to be genuinely enjoying working there. We were checked up on a few times during our meal to make sure everything was okay, which it was! And then of course thanked as we left the branch. 4/5 for friendliness here!
Speed of Service – There was no queue when we ordered our food so we got served immediately, it all went smoothly and we were swiftly sat back down at our table, the food took just under 10 minutes to arrive, with nothing going wrong, so it was good! 4/5 for Speed in this branch!
Food – I got my usual Butterfly Chicken Extra-hot with Peri-chips and garlic bread. The garlic bread was delicious, it was cooked perfectly and I just devoured it, wishing I had ordered more; it tasted amazing when drenched in extra-extra hot sauce… The chips had lots of Peri spice on them, which always makes them taste amazing, they were really hot so obviously freshly cooked and yummy, the portion size wasn’t huge but it was enough to go with my meal. The chicken wasn’t quite as nice as the rest of the food, there wasn’t really enough sauce on it, so I had to use the extra-extra hot sauce on it to make it better, when eaten without it on it just tasted like chicken, perfectly cooked chicken but chicken missing the Nando’s taste. Because of the chicken (The main thing) letting the meal down slightly I’ll give it 3.5/5 for food!
Décor – The décor is pretty average in this branch, nothing really special, they had tip jars near the tills… Not sure what I think of that… It’s a pretty small branch and the layout is nothing cool… But I was a bit too tired this visit to take in the décor, I’ll give it 2/5.
Overall this was a pleasant trip to Nando’s for lunch, I was incredibly hungry and the fantastic chips and garlic bread with Nando’s spice and sauce all over them really made me happy, though the chicken could have been better. I’d give this branch 3/5 overall. | Friendliness of Staff | Speed of Service | Quality of Food | Decoration and Cleanliness | Rating | 4 | 4 | 3.5 | 2 | Meaning | Good stuff. Additional Comments: Nando’s lunch followed Nando’s dinner the previous evening at my local branch Edgware. Friday lunch times can be tricky affairs (all the more so leading up to Christmas) but this was not the case as we were offered our choice of table. We swiftly placed our orders and low and behold, the usual big group problem was about to rear its ugly head. On this occasion, the first member of the group to order received his food at least 15 minutes before the final 2 and the restaurant was no more than half full! On top of that, the first order was clearly rushed as the chicken wing on the breast was completely burnt. I’m glad to say I’ve never been served a completely burnt wing; it sure would be a problem for me as I consider the very end of the wing to be the best bit of the chicken! Luckily the cooking error was hardly noticed by the consumer on this occasion. As for my chicken, it was good but nothing spectacular. The chips portions were healthy if not too large for some people to handle. The local area is ok but no exciting bars and little general entertainment is available in the vicinity apart from shopping in the Broadwalk. In terms of a night out, I would recommend Nando’s and then hopping onto the Northern Line and heading into London (Camden or Shoreditch for example) as nightlife is extremely limited in Edgware. | Friendliness of Staff | Speed of Service | Quality of Food | Decoration and Cleanliness | Rating | 4 | 2 | 3 | 3 | Meaning | Good stuff. Weekday lunch Additional Comments: It was a positive Nandos experience with lots of peri spice. I had a chicken burger (it was slightly rubbery and overdone, which was surprising considering the food came so quickly) and peri chips with garlic bread but it was enjoyable nonetheless. For once my requested mayo was on the plate which is a rare occurrence as I usually have to ask again for it. I also had a free quarter chicken which was very enjoyable and cooked to perfection. The Nata (custard dessert) was a little undercooked and did not hit the spot it usually does. All in all, Edgware delivered everything I expected it to. It is not my favourite branch for various reasons, however I did have an enjoyable meal. | Friendliness of Staff | Speed of Service | Quality of Food | Decoration and Cleanliness | Rating | 4 | 5 | 3.5 | 3 | Meaning | Good stuff. How busy was it? Almost full
Time of day? Weekday dinner
Additional Comments: A fitting location for a leaving dinner which manager Vinnie was happy to cater for even if he wasn't working. For big groups, this branch is great mid-week as it doesn't get that busy and we were given the large table for 20 (well a bunch of tables shoved together) in the middle which was perfect. Ordering was slightly chaotic as inevitably some people's food arrived way before others but that was not a problem. As usual, I was one of the first to order and one of the last to finish eating which is impressive considering I had a 15 minute head start on some other members of my party! I have noticed that the houmous portion is much more generous here than at some other branches such as Brent Cross where the pitta to houmous ratio was not good enough and I ran out of houmous. No such problem in Edgware as we had loads of houmous leftover once all the pitta had been demolished. My last Nando's for at least 3 months went down well even if the chicken got a bit dry towards the end and the very end of my wing (undoubtedly the best bit) was missing! It's a shame they don't sell marinade in the restaurant as I don't have any to take with me to Spain, only the sauce. I will cope though, don't worry. This Nando's was also a historic one in the sense that it was the first ever time a group of people at Nando's included a reviewer from each category on the Rate Your Nando's Contributor list as Extra Hot (me), Hot (James), Medium (Joel Kara, Lozzy), Lemon+Herb (Jonny Grunwald, Zan, Olivier, Dom and Ricky Marshall) and Plain (Adam) were all represented! The Nando's staff were also rather impressed by my t-shirt, scroll down for evidence! | Friendliness of Staff | Speed of Service | Quality of Food | Decoration and Cleanliness | Rating | 3.5 | 3.5 | 3 | 3 | Meaning | Not bad. Additional Comments: I'm fed up of reviewing this Nandos. So average, I think you'll find it as the definition in the dictionary.
Must admit they did well to handle such a large table, although that is a tribute to the Nandos format.

Additional Comments: A leaving party for my business partner could only be held in one place: Edgware Nando's, a.k.a. the place where it all began.
This Nando's has recently garnered a reputation for being a distinctly average branch, and I have to say that tonight was no exception.
Decoration and the locale need no further description, so I'll get right onto the food and service. I ordered with the manager who accepted my order of a double wrap, with one breast Extra Hot and one Mango & Lime. When my wrap arrived it was filled with two Extra Hot breasts instead. When I pointed this out to the waitress she said 'No. Is not possible to do two sauces.' I pointed her to the receipt which showed I had requested two sauces AND had my order approved by the manager. She of course then obliged and got me my original order - however, I should definitely not have been challenged. I can perhaps understand this challenge if the wrap was a single, since it is not the Nando's norm to mix sauces on a single breast piece. However, the order was a double, so each breast piece could have a specific sauce added to it very easily.
As for the food itself, the chips were pretty good, probably a 4/5, though the chicken in the wrap was quite burnt on one side which made it difficult to eat. It also didn't help that the extra Mango & Lime sauce had more or less been dumped on top, so it wasn't well cooked into (and mixed with) the chicken. Overall quite disappointing, but saved from a 2/5 by the decent chips and rice.
I will of course be visiting this branch again since it is one of my two locals (Enfield being the other - another branch with mixed results), but as always, I wish they would up their game! | Friendliness of Staff | Speed of Service | Quality of Food | Decoration and Cleanliness | Rating | 3 | 2 | 2.5 | 3 | Meaning | Not bad. Additional Comments: As pointed out by other people who have reviewed this branch, it's as avergae as you can get... The only thing that made this bearable was the good company! :-) Met up again with RYN's own James again to see the delightful sites of one of his local Nando's. I feel for him... If this is the standard he has to live with then a permanent move back to Birmingham is in order.
Parking is free after 6:30 on the road. Spaces on the high street are not plentiful, but the further away you go the more street spaces there are. I had about a 6 minute walk, so fine. Otherwise Edgware station is opposite the Nando's.
I arrived around 7:30pm on a Tuesday night and was seated straight away. It was supposed to be a four-seater table... but you cold only just squeeeeeeze two high chairs underneath it. I'm only 6ft 1" and could not get my legs under the table properly - and even then had to put the other chair pushed back from the table a little into the aisles. This table was next to a wall as well so no room to move your arms. All the tables are like this too - close together.
The decor is also pretty standard. Plenty of lights filling the ceiling - all with orange lampshades, making it nice and bright, but that's about it. A couple of art pieces on the walls but nothing unique.
There was no wait to order for me... but although James was next to order he was interrupted by the phone. Ahh! I hate it when that happens! Why do phone orders always get priority?? There was then a wait of 29 minutes from my order to the food being delievered.. and sadly, it wasn't worth waiting for. The chips were a little cold and the chicken was the driest I have had for quite some time. Barely any marinade/sauce, slightly burnt and very dry chicken. James' leg was a bit more tasty which he lovingly passed across :-)
The staff did what was expected of them too. Not rude - but nothing special.

Number of Visits?: 50+ How busy was it? Almost full Time of day? Weekday lunch Additional Comments: This Nando's really is the epitomy of the word average. All the tables are quite close together (unless you're lucky enough to be given one of the two booths or don't mind sitting on one of the high tables with stools) and squeezing between them can sometimes be a nuisance. The food on this visit was particularly average, there was nothing fantastic about the chicken and my large peri chips were definitely short on peri salt in some areas. The staff do the minimum here without leaving a lasting impression (apart from manager Vinnie, of course, who unfortunately wasn't working). I finally understood that the water machine will never be fixed (it will only every distribute ice) as there is no water supply to it, I guess us tap water fans will be destined to ask for refills at the till for eternity at this branch! | Friendliness of Staff | Speed of Service | Quality of Food | Decoration and Cleanliness | Rating | 3 | 3 | 2.5 | 3 | Meaning | Not bad. Number of Visits?: My first visit! How busy was it? Almost full Time of day? Weekend dinner Additional Comments: Other than the fact that my chips were cold, the chicken was as tasty as ever and came fairly quickly. The atmosphere was electrifying and I couldn't get enough of the peri-naise concoction (that as a regular, I obviously mixed myself...). The most disappointing aspect of the restaurant, was the terrible chicken jokes they had written on the board. Number of Visits?: 50+ How busy was it? Up to 10 minute wait Time of day? Weekend dinner Additional Comments: This is my local branch and it was buzzing on this rather pleasant Sunday evening. We were told it would be a 10 minute wait for a table for 6 which was reasonably accurate. There were no problems with the orders but I would go as far as to say I was still hungry after my half chicken and 2 peri chips which has not happened on any of my other recent visits to Nando's (mainly in central London). The chicken was simply not as wholesome and meaty as in recent visits to other branches. I was not even fully satisfied by a friend's leftovers (not many people can shred a chicken quite like me) which meant I decided to treat myself to a chocolate cheesecake which finally did the job. One other aspect of Edgware that I don't understand is how the water dispenser is still out or order. I have been coming here regularly for 7 or 8 years and I cannot remember the last time the water dispenser was working. Having to ask to have your tap water filled up can be quite a nuisance at times especially at peak hours. I would say there is nothing outstanding about this branch but as it is my local (and where I experienced Nando's for the first time), it will always be a special one for me! | Friendliness of Staff | Speed of Service | Quality of Food | Decoration and Cleanliness | Rating | 3 | 3 | 2.5 | 3 | Meaning | Not bad. Date of Visit: 25/4/2011 Number of Visits?: 2-5 Additional Comments: A very average visit. The food lacked Peri-Peri sauce (although that was easily fixed); and the waitress was strange in some of her responses, for example, when we asked for more mayonnaise, she asked 'are you sure?'. As usual, staff interaction lacked. The most disappointing aspect of this Nandos was the men's toilets, where the taps only stayed on for 1 second, and the hand-dryer did not work. The last time I visited, about a month ago, this situation was still the same. | Friendliness of Staff | Speed of Service | Quality of Food | Decoration and Cleanliness | Rating | 3 | 3 | 2.5 | 2 | Meaning | Not bad. Date of Visit: 1pm Monday 25th April 2011 Number of Visits?: 50+ Additional Comments: Edgware is my local branch and it has changed quite a lot since my first ever Nando's back in the late 1990s! Edgware Underground Station is a 1 minute walk away which can take you into Central London in 20 minutes. Parking can be difficult at peak times, try the side streets off the high street or the Broadwalk Car Park during the day. On this particular visit, I had a free whole chicken to share with a friend which was very tasty but not spicy enough for my liking. The peri chips had enough peri salt on them but the meal did not leave me fully satisfied as it used to do 3 or 4 years ago. I therefore decided to share a Chocoloate Cheesecake for the first time and must say that I was very impressed. It was delicious! I would fully recommend it Branch Manager Vinnie was friendly as always and will hopefully mention the website in the upcoming board meeting next week. Service was good, just under 10 minutes for the main courses and desserts arrived within 2 or 3. Maybe the toilets could be kept better but apart from that, a good Nando's! | Friendliness of Staff | Speed of Service | Quality of Food | Decoration and Cleanliness | Rating | 4 | 3.5 | 3.5 | 3.5 | Meaning | Not bad. I have enjoyed my visits to this Nandos, although the staff seem to be a bit clueless. No indepth customer interaction just the simple processing of the order. The restaurant is not the biggest Nandos and can therefore get a bit busy during peak times. Additional Comments: Edgware is not my prefered destination for a night out but when a Nandos is required it has to do. Saturday night, not too much of a wait for the table although table was dirty when we sat down. There was not enough space for people to stand whilst waiting to sit. When wanting to fill up on water the machine was not working, so the waiter guided me to the tap. Of hot water.
