Comments - Stand out in our monthly competition! What did you eat? Unique aspects? Parking/transport tips?:

I really hate doing bad reviews. But this place deserves it, if you enjoy Nando's and expect that high quality of service that the brand is known for do not for any reason go here (Bristol- Cribbs Causeway is the other side of the car park a much better restaurant) So t'was the first Monday of the new year and I thought I would check out a Nando's that I have been meaning to go to for a while a cold very wet dark night. So on entering the restaurant I had to wait for 5 minutes yes 5 minutes to be seated even though the place wasn't busy at all. Being greeted by a cross between Vicky pollards boyfriend and the "computer says no" women from little Britain I was asked where I would like to sit before I could even open my mouth the menu was slammed down on the table closest to door, not a great start I thought but a restaurant can't be reviewed on just one member of staff. The one unique thing this restartuart does offer is a free starter before you even order any food courtesy of the bit of chicken and plenty of sauce I found inside the menu, yes you heard me right a lovely peice of tender chicken and undisclosed peri peri sauce sandwhiched between two pieces of A4 card. I always order the same thing so just put the menu to one side. Even though the restaurant wasn't that busy the order point was very busy from over hearing the conversation in front this was due to certain items being off the menu and customers needing to rechoose what they wanted on the spot, so once I finally got served thankfully they had my medium half a chicken, peri peri chips and garlic bread. After waiting 20 minute during which time Vicky Pollards boyfriend seated a couple right next to me, even though there was plenty of tables free elsewhere, with the tables being very close together this made it very awkward. I just hope he hadn't planned a cheeky Nando's as a first date, this place was anything but cheeky.Anyway on with the food, so after about 20 minutes the half chicken with sides of peri peri chips and garlic bread arrived, and I have to say the chips and garlic bread were very nice, and had I asked for a chargrilled plain half a chicken it would have been perfect. This was the most stingiest portion of peri peri sauce I have ever seen on a Nando's chicken, seriously there was more sauce in my menu than on my chicken.

Overall a very poor experience especially when Bristol Cribbs Causeway is just over the car park at The Mall.

Bravo - someone with an honest opinion at last! I've regularly visited Nandos since they appeared on our shores and whilst most of the time they deliver excellent food and service they sometimes produce a stinker every now and then. Well done you for being brave enough, nay, courageous enough to put pen to paper (in the modern sense of course). I think the world needs honesty and if we didn't have people like you in the world it would be a poorer place for it.
Keep up the good work and perhaps a career in food journalism might be an idea? I work for the Guardian - although not a journalist - I work in the post room (LOL) I have a huge interest in the London Nandos - the O2 being the absolute stand out Nandos restaurant maybe even restaurant in the world....it's on two levels for goodness-sakes - how many restaurants in the world can boast being on two levels! anyway I might friend you on facebook and maybe we could meet up to exchange notes over a splash of Piri-Piri sometime?
