I was really excited to get there after walking around for half an hour and getting lost multiple times. Never been to Canary Wharf before and it is such a maze unless you know where you're going. My high spirits were shortly dampened by the bad attitude of the staff there however and it left a bad taste in my mouth.
I wasn't greeted for about three minutes before a lady came over to offer me a table. She did ask whether I wanted to go order first to which I said yes so she told me table number three and pointed in the general direction of the restaurant. This was my first time there so clearly I would have to go find it myself.
The girl behind the counter was very abrupt, "table number" which she repeated twice without either saying hello or whether I was eating in or taking away. With a second meal to eat later on and just having two sausage rolls from a farmers market I only ordered a quarter chicken, sweet mash and halloumi. At least she knew where the sweet mash button was on her til.
I found my table which was on the end of a swirly long sofa cushion seat going into the restaurant by the bottom of the stairs. The cutlery and stuff is to the right as you come in but I could not carry everything and had to make two trips. There was a problem with the same host as I disturbed the sauce carrier from a table as I did not see them above my head. They sat a huge guy next to my table and he had corn.
The meal arrived in seven minutes, the guy went around me and moved my water glass to put the plate down despite the fact I had cleared a space in front of me. The chicken had dark patches which I couldn't eat but at least they gave me a breast piece. So smothered in mango sauce that it was oozing around on the plate. The mash was nice, a decent portion and the halloumi was done just right.
Third time lucky with finding a clean toilet, the medieval doors were a contrast to the branch and to the shiny, crisp and marble of Canary Wharf itself they might want to look at that when next doing a refurb.
Food was okay but the floors were dirty as you can see they simply brush stuff off the tables onto the floor. Staff need to sort themselves out.
