Nando's Statistics

Here are the latest statistics based on findings from the 950+ reviews submitted to us so far. All statistics are correct as of 14/01/12

  • There are 994 Nando's in the whole World! How many have you been to?!

  •  The 294 branches in Australia over the population of 21.8 million makes Australia the country with the highest branch - inhabitant density. Our calculations show there is a Nando's in Australia for every 74,149 Aussies!

  • The most isolated capital city in the world is Santiago, Chile which is a whooping 4,915miles away from its nearest Nando’s in Camps Bay, Cape Town. Unfortunately, we are yet to find any cheap flights for you Santiaguinos :(.

  • The UK city with the highest branch - inhabitant density is Manchester with its 9 restaurants. There is a Nando's for every 55,333 Mancunians!

  • The Nando’s with the longest name in the whole world is Pietermaritzburg, Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa which has a huge 16 letters. It really is quite a mouthful!

  • The largest Nando's in the World is the one in Westfield Shopping Centre - Stratford. It has space for 260 Nandoers to eat at once.

  • Aberdeen - Union Square has the honour of being not only the northern most Nando's in the UK, but in the entire world! Only the most committed fans make the long journey to northern Scotland to visit this branch.

  • Riccarton in Christchurch, New Zealand is the southern most Nando's in the whole world! Who will be the first person to rate it? We are interested to hear what it's like down there!

  • The first Nando's in the UK opened in Ealing back in 1992, 5 years after its birth in Rossettenville, South Africa.

  •  The 5 most populous towns/cities in the UK WITHOUT Nando's: 1. Stoke-on-Trent (260,000) 2. Walsall (175,000) 3. Swindon (155,000) 4. Telford (140,000) 5. Eastbourne (98,000). Let's hope that these cities get honoured with a Nando's in the near future.

  • Inverness is a shocking 83 miles from its nearest Nando's making it the most isolated city in the UK. We feel sorry for all you Invernessians.

  • If you are not an Elite Veteran then there is only a 31% chance you will have hot or higher.

  • If you are an Elite Veteran then this increases to a 53% chance you will have hot or higher.

  • This is interesting since it supports the fact that chilis are addictive and a tolerance can be attained over time (or perhaps Elite Veterans just enjoy pain more!). Not a single Elite Veteran has their chicken Plain (and rightly so!).

  • The most popular spice level across all Veterancies is Medium, followed closely by Lemon & Herb/Mango & Lime. Perhaps the spice levels need to be rescaled?

  • Around 4.5 in every 10 Nando's visitors have been over 100 times. Either this means Nando's is quite a niche restaurant or there are a lot of people who want to come back for more...or maybe only big fans have found this website!

  • The national average rating is 3.73 / 5. This means the 'average' Nando's is actually above average! Good job Nando's.

  • Friendliness of staff and speed of service are the most likely ratings to bring a branch down. Generally food and decoration/cleanliness score above average.

  • Nando's nationwide find it difficult to handle busy periods. One of the most commonly noticed problems is a slow turnaround of tables on Friday and Saturday nights. In addition, statistics prove that food quality declines as number of people in the restaurant increases. The RateYOURNandos team's favourite time to visit is 12pm so you get the first batch of the day!

  • Regions above the national average: East, Midlands, North, Northern Ireland, Scotland, South, West

  • Regions below the national average: London, Wales

  • Branches in the centre's of large towns/cities usually have the best decorations. Check out Covent Garden, Southbank and Leeds - The Light for examples!
