North Staffordshire residents have had to make do with a commute to Derby or Birmingham to get their peri-peri fix for some time now - and this never seemed like changing since Stoke's City Sentral scheme has been on hold (and may never be put into action), as indicated here.

However, the outlook is now different with the announcement of a £20 million expansion to the intu Potteries Centre in Hanley. Work is ongoing to expand the Hanley shopping centre, which will see restaurants and a cinema developed at the side of the facility - and Nando's will take on a 5,500 sq ft space. In doing so, Nando's will join other restaurants such as Pizza Express, Chiquito and Frankie & Benny's who have also signed up to the expansion. Further details can be read on The Sentinel website here.

With this news, Hanley's City Sentral Nando's is dropped to a mere Lemon & Herb rumour, while this new Hanley's intu Potteries Nando's is added as a Medium on our Opening Soon & Restaurant Rumours page.

This means Staffordshire residents as a whole will soon have Nando's in Tamworth, Burton and Stoke-on-Trent!

You can keep up with all the latest info on new openings and Rate Your Nando's events by viewing our Opening Soon & Restaurant Rumours and News pages - and if you have more info on this or any other news sources then join in our community and contact us now!

Will this be halal? It will be a big success if it were to be halal. A large number of the city's population eats halal only and are the ones who eat out most so it would be better if the restaurant is halal as almost all other food outlets in the area are halal.

I hope it isn't Halal.

"A large number of the city's population eats halal only" - and a larger number DO NOT!

"and are the ones who eat out most" - based on what? Get real.

"so it would be better if the restaurant is halal as almost all other food outlets in the area are halal." - No it wouldn't, and if I find any that are I will be avoiding them!

theres not difference to you if it is halal or not. the food still obviously tastes the same. for us it is a big difference because the animal is killed in the way we believe is correct.

In the past we have had KFC do a halal trial in Stoke On Trent. Due to the increase of sales figures they have decided to keep the chicken in KFC halal. It would only make sense for nandos to make their chicken halal in stoke on Trent potteries centre halal as this would attract more customers resulting in more profits. PLEASE MAKE NANDOS IN STOKE ON TRENT HALAL!
Currently customers who want halal chicken from Nandos would have to drive 40miles +

Please make the restaurant Halal, it makes sense as there is no Halal nandos in Staffordshire, people having to travel to Birmingham or Manchester to go Nandos!

Please make Nando's in Stoke-on-Trent, Hanley Halal as we have a Subway that is serving Halal food, KFC that is also serving Halal food. There is also other franchises in Hanley serving Halal chicken such as Dixy Fried chicken, Chunky Chicken, MoMo's restaurant and other restaurants / takeaways aswell, so you would get more customers and increased revenues if you were to serve Halal

I definitly do not want this nandos to be halal, there are others in the population that do not eat halal and i think to purely base it on the communte to manchester or birmingham i have to travel to manchester to go to a non halal nandos. I would not eat there.

Do you even know what halal means? It just means that it's not killed my suffering. So why are you so disappointed if the food is halal, it doesn't mean that it's for the muslims only, it tastes exactly the same.

Please do not make yet another restaurant/takeaway halal! I am sick of querying before I try a new restaurant if it is halal or not. It's nothing to do with taste, or as somebody white ignorantly put it islamaphobic. I am an atheist animals welfare supporter and think that our welfare rules in this country USED to be in the interests of a humane death for all animals slaughtered. Why then in the name of religion can this all of a sudden be disregarded.
