Aylesbury - Ryan Review
This Nando's is a lovely new branch right in the middle of Aylesbury town centre. It's just off Exchange Street by the Grand Union Canal so is very accessible. Aylesbury train station is just a few minutes walk away and there are plenty of car parks nearby. I parked at the nearby Friars Square which brings you out just a moment's walk from Exchange Street this is only open from 8am-7pm though at £0.90/1hr, £1.60/2hrs, £2.50/3hrs. There is an Exchange Street car park which is a little more expensive but is 24 hours and priced at £1/1hr, £2/3hrs, £3.50/4hrs and upwards from there. There's also an Odeon almost next door to Nando's and Aylesbury Waterside Theatre is just a few minutes walk away too.
This Nando's is spread over two floors and is quite spacious. Downstairs at the front there are a good mixture of bench/table and booth seating and then towards the back are further booths under the stairs) and then even more booths and bench seating at the very back. Upstairs there is further seating of about 15 tables along with half a dozen tables or so outside. All the upholstery is new and colourful - bright greens and bright blues - and some of the tables also have splashes of paint on the surfaces.
The decor is also nice and fresh. There are plenty of different styles of lighting including some wooden/cork shades, some oil lamp style shades and then upstairs loads of what seem to be terracotta plant pots with light bulbs dangling out of them. There are lots of different patterns on the walls and different textures including a forest climbing up the front wall! Lots of different paintings too and lots of colour all over the place including a bright green staircase! Toilets are also very nicely decorated and were spotless.
Arrived here at about 3pm and other than the staff, I was the only person in the place - so needless to say there was no wait at all, and the food came in just over one minute! It was very much a case of I had just sat down after getting my sauce and then it came! A chicken fillet burger and the biggest "regular" portion of chips I have every had for sure. The size of the portions counter balanced the slightly poor quality of the food though. The chips were soggy and lukewarm - if only the food had taken two minutes to come... The chicken burger was also lukewarm and as seems to be the case recently, had far more mayo than peri sauce on it. Plenty of salad on the burger though.
Staff were pleasant enough too but doing as expected.
