Baker Street - Pompey Ranger Review
This is the closest Nandos to Sherlock Holmes in Baker street so I was hoping it would hold up to inspection.
The shop is on a busy central London street within a short walk of the underground which bears the same name. Quite dark in decoration with over of use of black on the front and a wide window and a small seating area to the front exterior with roping around it to guard off the numerous passing pedestrians.
Inside it was a bit brighter with a mixture shared booths along the left which can be configured to tables of 2, 4 or the entire booth 6 people.
The staff whilst friendly didn't have the best grasp of the English language which certainly would up the gentleman who was asking the waiter to put his food on the table whilst he went to get another drink and the waiter was just trying to follow him with his food. I feel this also might have accounted for the bit of a queue to get served whilst just one person serving and a manager playing with the other till. They also go heavily into the secondary selling which I found irritating when the waiter is heavily pushing you to have a dessert or coffee you don't want whilst your struggling to understand what he's saying.
The food was good, chicken moist, chip portion could have been bigger but not so small I'd complain and I suspected this might of been part of their secondary selling plan to make you want to buy more chips.
The toilets are down stairs and very compact so not suitable for the larger guest. There is also a secondary large seating area downstairs with its own bar/order area which wasn't open at the time of my visit.
I would return to this store as good food and location but I now no to be a lot harsher in the NO when being offered extras at the table to prevent further incursions trying to flog me extras.
