Barnsley - Ryan Review
This Nando's is in The Glassworks complex in Barnsley town centre. There's a Cineworld and a Superbowl bowling alley within the complex also. It's next door to the train station too. There are plenty of car parks also. The Glassworks does have its own and Cineworld customers can receive up to 5 hours free parking. All car parks generally charge the same amount between 7am and 5pm: Mon-Fri 3hrs/£2 with every additional 30mins/50p and Sat/Sun 3hrs/free with every additional 30mins/50p.
This Nando's does not look like much from the outside. They suffer from a real glare from the sun for most of the day so a window lining has been put on the inside and it does make it look as though it's closed somewhat... Inside, this lining really does give it a real glare. I can't help but think it would have been better to leave it off... There's an interesting patterned wooden ceiling inside with some large red Chinese lantern style shades. Some nice colour canvasses on the walls too. Plenty of large booths too but you really do have this glare - even at the back of the restaurant.
They had not long opened on a Sunday afternoon and it was still quiet inside with the food coming in just under 10 minutes. I went for a chick rice bowl for the first time! :) They were out of the cauliflower florets AND hummus so beefed up the portion with everything else (other than more chicken). It was a little odd to have this mix of hot and cold and didn't realise the chicken was skinless and not grilled. The rice was a bit cold as well.
Staff were pleasant and very apologetic for the missing items.
