Belfast - Bedford Street - Seb Braddock Review
Very convenient location, very central and serendipitously located opposite a Wetherspoon's, which made the afters options almost ridiculously easy.
We had quite a big party with us, 8 people rather, as we were celebrating the return of one of our mates. Given it was a weekday dinner we thought it wouldn't be too much of a problem; however, it turned out that apparently the upstairs portion of the restaurant was shut, meaning that we had to wait upwards of 15 minutes to get seated. The staff were polite and pleasant enough, but our food did take a noticeable time to arrive, made even more noticeable by the fact that two of our party had to wait a good 5 minutes after everyone else, which brought a touch of awkwardness to the affair.
As the month's end was approaching I was on a bit of a budget, so the order was the peri peri livers, extra hot, with a side of spicy rice; in other words, my typical bare bones order. Though many find me odd for doing so, I've always found the livers to be the most underrated of Nando's offerings, deeply savoury and vigorously spiced in a thick, viscous gravy at its very best, but here the livers were a touch on the dry side with no real intensity of heat, requiring a more substantial dousing in my usual combination of the Vusa and the XXHot than usual. The rice was as per, whilst the bread roll which came along with the meal was warm and crusty; but these things are surely par for the course, and did little to diminish my disappointment with the meal as a whole.
All in all, not a particularly memorable Nando's at all. The location does much recommend it for its convenience, but alas I get the sensation that this outlet may be resting on that particular laurel a tad overmuch.
