Braintree - Ryan Review
After having run the Colchester Half, what better way to re-fuel than with some chicken and chips?? :-D Stopped off at Braintree Nando's on the way back at about 1:30pm on a Sunday and surprisingly it was only half full, so no time to queue and the food came in just under 10 minutes.
This Nando's is on the Freeport Outlet Village, but strangely it's not currently on the Freeport Braintree website store directory... but don't be fooled it is definitely there! With these Outlet Villages, as you'd expect there are over 100 shops/branches, so plenty to choose from, including a Cineworld. Thousands of free parking spaces dotted around all the car parks. Just head for the one signposted "Freeport Outlet Village" and you'll see Nando's and be closer to it.
Freeport Braintree train station is also just a few minutes walk away.
The branch itself is well decorated. Wooden-panelled on the outside with full length windows. Inside, it's quite open plan with a few tables/booths in the front windows and then a further good mix of booths/tables/chairs in the rest of the restaurant. There is some nice decoration as well: 40 or so lanterns in the middle of the branch acting as the main light feature, 100+ small canvas prints on the back wall in a diamond shape and then further wood carvings set into the wall on the right hand side by the drinks machine. Very clean throughout too.
The food was delicious as well. A good sized portion of chicken cooked to perfection and well marinaded. A big portion of hot crispy chips and a big portion of hot, moist rice. Really couldn't fault this meal, it was superb!
Staff did everything expected of them.
