Castleford - Damien Review
On our Nando's quest, the lengthy gap between Nando’s 69 and number 70 here was down to the place being closed for refurbishment when we tried to visit 2 months ago. Luckily, it was open for business on this occasion.
Castleford Nando’s is situated in the out of town Xscape “leisure” complex. The entire building and layout is almost eerily identical to the Xscape in Milton Keynes, which we crossed off several years back. Despite it being a bustling December Saturday afternoon, and the nearby Frankie & Benny’s having a queue outside, we managed to go straight into Nando’s with our group of five. The restaurant is moderately sized, but there is no noticeable sign of this recent refurbishment. Nothing looked old and decrepit, but rather bland and standard. The staff were on top form though, all of them smiley and friendly. The service was quick, the food and portion sizes were more or less Nando’s average, and there was a nice view of the Christmas goings-on in the car park from the window we were sat near. The upstairs loos rated slightly lower, being dingy and smelly with no music. Unusual for Nando’s. The good food, quick service and friendly but non-imposive staff added up to a good Nando’s visit that was almost worth the wait.
