Chesterfield - Leong Review
I just can’t hep falling in love with a place like this. The Nandos Chesterfield restaurant is clean and tidy and spacious. It was like walking into one the Disneyland theme park but in a smaller scale. A lot of attention to details. This restaurant has not been open very long. The whole restaurant was decorated with vibrant colour walls and lightings, based on African theme. They have paid a lot of attention to details. All the decorations look absolutely stunning. This Nandos looks so different from any of the other Nandos that I have been in before. The wood cladding on the ceiling together with the dark iron beams and the vent pipes give the dinning area the rustic look. The giant colourful lanterns hanging down from the ceiling were fun to look at. They were very decorative too. The wooden parquet flooring matches well with the wood dinning tables and chairs. The curvy top of the drinks and hand washing counters add to the decorative features. I particularly like some of the tables that are decorated with different colour stripe of wood to form a mosaic pattern covering. They were amazing. On the wall next to the grill area, the Legend of the Barcelo Cockerel was written on the herringbone patterned tile wall. The design has to be inspired by the Crooked Spire of Chesterfield.
We were greeted by the waitress at the door. It was 8.00 O’clock in the evening on a week day. The restaurant was not very busy. Only about 4 or 5 tables were occupied. Everywhere looks immaculately clean. My friend and I choose to sit on one of the semi circular leather upholstery booths in front of a round wooden table. It was quite fun also to sit under the colourful giant lantern. As soon as we sat down I can smell of the aroma of the grilled Peri Peri chicken coming from the grill area. It made my tummy rumble. A quick look through the menu and we decided to order a chicken platter and Peri Peri chips to shared between us. The chicken has to be extra hot. I got up and went over to the counted to make my order. I also order a portion of garlic bread and coleslaw to go with our chicken platter.
I then went over to the drink machine and the cutlery area to collect my drinks, cutleries and sauces. They even make cutlery and sauce counter looking beautiful by lining up all the colourful polished clean Peri Peri sauce bottles( fully filled) all neatly in rows on the shelves in front of the iron mesh support. The rectangular trough hand washing basin next to the drink machine was a bit unusual too.
It did not take long for the food to arrive, about 10 minutes or so. The chicken and chips were piping hot and tasted absolutely delicious. Even though the chicken was spicy enough for us, I still like to smother more garlic sauce on the chicken and lots of ketchup on the chips. The staffs are helpful, polite and efficient. They keep coming back to see if everything is alright for us. We have no complaint but only compliments.
My friend and I have enjoyed the evening out in Chesterfield Nandos. This has got to be the best decorated Nandos I have been to. Parking in the Alma leisure centre was easy and free. It is not far from the town centre not very far from the Crooked Spire Church. We will definitely come back to visit again.
