Cork - Academy Street - Marc Joss Review
Easter Monday signalled the end of a four-day food feast in Ireland, with the final stop none other than Cork's newest and Ireland's biggest Nando's on Academy Street. Having visited Mahon Point last year, I am in a good position to compare the two restaurants. Mahon Point wins in terms of accessibility (free parking), while Academy St was a bit of a struggle and we ended up in a multi-storey car park at €2 per hour. Apart from that, this Nando's experience trumped last year's with stunning décor, friendly staff, big portion sizes and spicy chicken!
The food arrived swiftly and I was instantly impressed with the size of my half chicken and the amount of sauce covering it. It was a definite 5 for food and I could still feel the peri-peri spice as I boarded my flight home to London.
The décor is interesting with a large downstairs area that was covered in colourful Easter celebrations. The upstairs seating area is also pretty big, with very high ceilings and awesome dangling lights hanging down as you walk in on the right (see pics).
The staff were friendly and helpful, so I just hope that the biggest Nando's in Ireland really takes off in the coming months!
