East Kilbride - Ryan Review
Stopped into this Nando's on my way up North for a quick spot of lunch. It's advertised as being in the Olympia Shopping Centre, but I didn't see any signs for this as the centre seems to have been re-branded as EK, with Nando's being in "The Hub EK". It's massive, so there's plenty of parking at EK, with prices as Mon-Fri 50p/1hr, £1/2hr, £2/3hr, £3/4hr, £4/5hr and upwards from there, with 3hrs FREE on Saturday (you start paying more after this time), FREE after 6pm every day and FREE all Sunday. The EK Centre is home to an Odeon Cinema, an Ice Rink and loads of other shops and eateries. East Kilbride train station is a half mile walk away.
Arrived here about 1pm and it was nearly full, but the food still came in just under 10 minutes. Being inside a shopping centre there is obviously no outside, but there there are about 10 larger four-seater tables for "outside" seating, with some of the tables looking out onto the ice rink letting you have a nice gaze at people curling... "Inside" as you enter, there are about six four-seater square booths running down the right side in the windows. To the left towards the till there is a big red pillar stretching the height of the restaurant which goes up to a circular wooden clad ceiling. The pillar is in the way a bit and the three tables squeezed in around it do not have much room. All the way to the left there is a large circular booth sort of surrounded with wood in a wicker style. There are a couple of red frilly lightshades and many beaded mosaics canvasses on the wall above the sauce station. Toilets were clean but completely plain. Good overall.
I had a single breast chicken burger and chips and it was standard all round. The chicken breast was well cooked and marinated, but it was very thin... The portion of chips was a good size but money were overdone and a little burnt.
Staff were friendly enough but doing as expected.
