This store is part of the new town centre redevelopment which has an amazingly confusing one way system surrounding it which I tragically fell foul to searching for the entrance to the car park. Also be warned the Post code won't show up on a lot of satnavs (like mine) presumably due to how new it is. You get free parking in the car park below which is attached to the Tescos which seems to be the linchpin of the development. There is also a Vue cinema along with many other shops and restaurants. The Nando's is in prime place on the square right by the public art of the giant ring which in keeping with the Angel of the North Gatesheads other great public art I liked but wasn't sure why.

The store was nigh on empty when we arrived in the evening which is a shock as it is very well appointed in side with 3 round booths as you enter and a host of more square booths at the back under the interesting Tyre wall and the lighting installations that impressed me. They had the face the window stools and bar for single diners that you sometimes find in train station Nandos. The toilets were clean too with Belfast sinks.

When we arrived the lady informed us they only had half a chicken left but offered to put in some to cook if we didn't mind waiting the 20 minutes. We ummed and arhhed as whilst had wanted half each couldn't be bothered to wait as quite late already and neither was willing to back down and take a inferior boneless meal. We settled on sharing the half between us (and the resultant argument who should have the breast piece). They gave us 5 free wings to make up for this and chucked a Butterfly in with the meal so we were very impressed with this. Added to this our chips were hot and plentiful, freshly cooked and very tasty. Chicken was good, wings excellent and spot on, my leg (I lost the argument) was a touch dry but not burnt . My friends breast the chicken was falling off the bone as they helpfully pointed out to me! And the butterfly was the best butterfly I've had (admittedly only the 3rd time I have had it) Bread rolls were warm and they brought us extra butter for them too. We were totally stuffed at the end and were able to sit back and enjoy how clean the place was.
