Gatwick Airport - South Terminal - Blaynos Review
This was the most unexpected Nando's meal ever. Completely forgot that there was a Nando's in Gatwick, and it was such a pleasant surprise to see it as I headed up the escalator to the second floor of the departure lounge / duty free area. Had I remembered there was a branch here, I would've definitely had a lighter breakfast before I left home (it was still only about 8.30am - but 'weekday lunch' is the closest time).
This Nando's also has a breakfast menu (which I'll try upload after this review) and they had cocktail stick samples at the front of the restaurant. The pancakes were good but definitely not worth the money you'd have to pay for them. Likewise the sausage was good, but the 'Corny Browns' (I think that's what they were) were absolutely awful, needed to down some water immediately after to get rid of the taste!
In the end, I went for a chicken burger and a side of halloumi (despite the early hour, who knows when I'll be back at Gatwick). And they were absolutely perfect. Chicken cooked brilliantly, nice and moist, and the halloumi was fantastic as well. It seemed to come almost immediately as well.
The branch itself is pretty huge, all on the one, upper, floor. If you sat deep inside the restaurant, you get the view over the tarmac of the planes etc, but I sat nearer to the entrance of the restaurant, next to the drinks dispenser. Plenty of sauces available in two separate areas and a range of other takeaway pastries and drinks available. Fantastic pre-flight experience.
