Great Portland Street - Ryan Review
So I finally made it to a Review Dinner and it was great to attend in such a nice restaurant. This Nando's was just a few minutes walk away from both Regent's Park and Great Portland Street tube stops.
Overall, this Nando's was very well decorated - huge wooden beams at the front of the restaurant with lots of metal conical lampshades hanging from these. Lots of bright red leather booths/benches for the seating and plenty of large and bright canvases. At the back where the Review Dinner was held it was again nicely decorated - bare brick walls with plenty of canvas paintings (some of rabbits too... no chickens...), big square leather booths and more of the same lighting - although a lot of this wasn't on for some reason, so it was pretty dark! Toilets were downstairs and very brightly painted in a beach hut style - all having their own individual space with sink and hand dryer.
The orders for the whole party went through without a hitch and were all delivered very quickly - and personally mine came in under five minutes. Staff were fine with the ordering and let us have half of the restaurant to ourselves (although we were nowhere near to filling it) with 20% off the bill (so a bonus point there) - albeit they did everything as expected in the course of things.
After three sub-standard meals, I was looking forward to this and happily I was not disappointed. A succulent breast and leg, well cooked and dabbed in sauce, with a good sized portion of hot and crispy chips and a good sized portion of hot rice. Looking at it through rose-tinted eyes after my last three I'd say it was the best I'd had... but realistically this was above average.
