Great Portland Street - Pompey Ranger Review
This store near the north end of Great Portland street is next to a Sainsburys express. Large front windows which can open up in summer let a flood of light into the store which at the front has a mixture of steel tables and also wood tables some of which with american dinner style red faux leather seating. The back opens up wider and is also very light with artwork on the walls.
Downstairs are the toilets which are very interesting. The toilet area is decided up into two sections by prison style bars and separated from the stairs by glass walls and doors with the gender logos on the doors. Inside are colourful (blue and green for the men's side and red and pink for the girl's) beach hut contraptions with traffic light system to inform if occupied or not. Inside each hut is a toilet, sink and air drier, compact and tidy.
The staff were average and definitely weren't full of the joys of spring today and a bit mopey, there was also a bit of a language barrier.
I ordered a 1/4 chicken breast, chips, roll and avocado. After about 17 minutes it came out but with a tiny leg and about 10 chips very sparse with the avocado bowl taking up more space on my plate. I looked at it in disbelief and said i had asked for a breast, this is where the language barrier was worst but eventually established that a leg was not what I had been expecting. The plate went back to the kitchen and I was left to munch down on my cold roll. A moment later my avocado was returned which had bits of salad in the bowl and slight brown tinting and was quite hard.
About 9 minutes later my meal returned with not only a plump healthy looking breast which was well cooked but also an avalanche of chips over 4 times the portion size of the first offering which were very tasty. If I had been presented this at first I would have been very happy.
