Islington - Blaynos Review
As the dates show, did the Nando's double - lunch and dinner - and thanks to a mixture of a red reward and an RYN gift card, barely cost me anything for both meals.
The Islington branch is on Upper Street between Angel (Northern line) and Highbury & Islington (Victoria, London Overground, National Rail), closer to Angel though not by much. Headed down on a busy Friday evening, we were lucky to get a table without queueing (even if the Nandoca did lead us on a brief wild goose chase around the restaurant looking for a table). In the unlikely event someone has trawled through my previous reviews, you'll have noticed my general disdain towards Nando's wraps - although I once again gave it a go with my red reward (it's the only way I can even begin to justify getting it, as I don't have to pay the extra quid).
I went to get some extra hot sauce from the service station, and there wasn't any. I asked a Nandoca and he replied, "have you checked downstairs?" in a rather short way; which rather surprised me. Headed back to the table to put some of cutlery and drinks down (don't wanna be wandering around with knives)... was then going back to head downstairs and a different Nandoca, who had overheard, was coming upstairs with a couple of xhot bottles, which was greatly appreciated.
All in all, however, a rather underwhelming experience.
Collectively, our table's food took a while to come, it's probably about 2.5/3, as was the decoration & cleanliness, so between the two, I've given a 2 and a 3 to even it up. The food itself was alright. Peri chips, garlic bread and halloumi were all good but the wrap seemed to be lettuce featuring chicken, rather than the other way round.
