Kensal Rise - Ryan Review
This was the first of two Nando's on this evening's trip - and now one of the few London Nando's still remaining! I was on the train and so this Nando's is just a five minute walk from either Kensal Green underground/overground station or Kensal Rise overground station. In that short walk I had three different police vans drive past me... so probably one to not leave your car around... ;-)
I got to this one at about 8:30pm and there were just a few tables in use. It's very nicely decorated - and definitely one of the better London ones for sure! Outside there is a small amount of seating with red tables and yellow and blue chairs. Inside and immediately to your left as you enter there is a waiting area with a proper leather sofa and bookcase.
The rest of the restaurant is really open plan. There's a yellow banquette hugging the front wall/windows - making 10 tables or so. It arcs away from the wall - enough to house a few larger booths behind it. On the back wall is a brown leather bench for five tables and then some larger 4-6 seater tables in the middle of the restaurant. There are red and yellow metal shades down the centre of the restaurant for the lighting, along with some angle-poised lamps above the yellow banquette seating in the windows. There are further white shades and spotlighting too.
Several paintings are on the wall in the waiting area - and a further five large canvasses above the brown bench on the back wall. The toilets were also very clean and were completely tiled in a white/maroon pattern.
The food came in just under 10 minutes and was a chicken burger and rice. The chicken fillet on the burger was a very good size and thick - but it was also very dry indeed, inside and out. The rice portion was also huge and towering in its dish, but again it was very dry indeed. Just below average for the quality of the food here - but definitely not the quantity!
Staff were fine and doing as expected.
