Kentish Town - Ryan Review
So second Nando's of the night and a trip up to Kentish Town. This was only a five minute walk from Kentish Town underground/overground station and less than that from Kentish Town West overground station - so easily found.
As you enter, there's a little separating wall that takes you up to the tills and then to the left there is a section of about 10 table/chair sets and to the right of the tills there is a little larger seating area hosting another 10 tables/chairs sets or so and three booths. Above these booths there are a few canvas paintings and also some skylights above you - but overall, this is a very plain Nando's and in need of some TLC. All the walls are painted cream and other than these small paintings (above the booths) there is little colour anywhere else.
The lightshades are mainly domes in different styles - glass, metal and brown copper cylinder too. The flooring is the old terracotta style ones with plenty of cracked and stained tiles. All in all it's pretty dull.
Arrived here at about 9:30pm and there was only one other table in use, so am pleased to say the food came very quickly in under five minutes. With only one other table in use though, it was a bit odd how neither of the two sauce stations (at the front and back) had anything above Medium and neither had any knives or forks. I made do with two spoons - and kept an eye to see if anybody noticed and because nobody else came in for dinner they weren't replenished at all...
I had a half chicken, chips and ratatouille and it was a real mixed bag. Both pieces of chicken were average size - and very saucy on the outside and had a nice bit of charring, but then they were quite dry on the inside. The chips were an average size portion too and half soggy and half crispy. The ratatouille was hot and saucy though. Just below average overall.
The toilets entrance is in the front section and takes you down a very plain stairwell and into some plain and cream toilets.
I wasn't checked on during the meal, so this, together with the poor show of sauces and cutlery on offer takes it down a point.
On the way out I did notice a couple of nice metalwork Cocks in the window by the entrance... so this was probably the best thing about this Nando's!
