Kings Cross - Damien Review
Rate Your Nando’s’ 5th birthday celebrations brought me to the Kings Cross restaurant for the very first time. Despite it being local to where I work and where friends live, I’d somehow never wound up there before. This was no normal Nando’s visit though. It was planned well ahead, the food was being laid on for free, and members of staff even joined us at the tables. Rating the evening as a normal Nando’s meal may be unfair, but it would be even more unfair for the fantastic service we received to go unregarded.
The attentive staff are hopefully allowed to rest their legs today, as they spent the best part of three hours going up and down the stairs to the basement level, where our large group was located, bringing us a whole manner of sides, starters and platters. I grabbed whatever was closest at the time. This happened to add up to a couple of wings, some pitta and red pepper dip, a (large) chicken breast quarter, a burger and a ton of Peri chips. As the peri peri procession carried on thick and fast, eyes stopped widening with the arrival of fresh platters. In fact, I think most of us suffered a total first world crisis. TOO MUCH FOOOOOO!
The evening’s festivities were top and tailed with the usual RYN raffle and quiz, accompanied by Barcelos himself (or in this case, herself) carrying an awesome Nando’s birthday cake. The event was by far the best contributor’s dinner I've been to and a great way to finally experience the Kings Cross branch for the first time. The staff were amazingly enthusiastic and attentive and helped form a great and memorable evening for a lot of people. Happy birthday Rate Your Nando’s. Here’s to the next five!
