Comments - Stand out in our monthly competition! What did you eat? Unique aspects? Parking/transport tips?:

Another day, another Nando's luncheon. This time, the missus and I were in Kingston doing some errands and decided to drop into the Nando's in Kingston. It's just off the High Street, so it's quite quiet but as a penalty there is some walking involved. Then again, this is Nando's we're talking about so I think we'd make the ambulation to our favourite place!

It has a lot of eateries to compete with, including some Japanese restaurants and other franchise outlets so it has to be on its A-game...sadly that wasn't the case. Upon entering, we were greeted with a cramped and chaotic scene. The layout was very claustrophobic and we felt quite crammed in. The staff weren't the most attentive lot and in fact failed to assert themselves with some customers; one group just pointed at a table and took it without waiting for their staff member to sit them down! I understand some people may be in a rush but that was sheer bad manners which should've been curtailed.

Once we were seen to, we had to weave our way through to our table which again felt squeezed in. Once we got our orders in, I went to use the facilites and discovered the upstairs part...my what a difference! This part was far more pleasant. Clean, rustic, open and fresh! I wished we were here, it even had a till and drinks/sauce section of its own. *sigh*

As for food, the food was alright. The chicken was well-cooked and somewhat tender but it lacked any significant flavour, especially after sampling the excellent Aldershot branch only two days previously. It had a lot to be desired. That being said, the portion size was good which made up for the lacking flavour.

If you find yourselves in Kingston and want some Nando's, it'll do the business but be prepared to put up with a tight fit and unassertive staff. It needs to have the upstairs brought downstairs!
