Limassol - James RYN Review
Nando's in Cyprus has been around for a while, and it has quite a few differences when compared to the UK.
Firstly you don't order at the till, but at the table, which wasn't a problem until we wanted to pay, and had to wait around for one of the staff to notice we were finished. The menu was also different, with the common thing to do being a portion of chicken with a single side, rather than two sides. When I ordered both rice and wedges the waitress looked surprised, and asked if I was sure. I confirmed I was, but soon realised this was a mistake, since the food arrived and I found out that side portions are huge; the wedges alone could have filled me up. As a result, there was quite a lot of food left, but this was purely my fault.
As for the taste of the food, my burger was pretty good, and not dissimilar to what I would expect in the UK. The main issue was the quality of the sides, which were definitely not up to UK standards. The rice was particularly average, and felt almost like cheap packet rice, rather than the unique-tasting spicy UK staple, while the wedges were quite stodgy and not as good as some of my party's chips which I tried.
Overall we left somewhat disappointed, and were in no hurry to return (in fact, the following year in Cyprus we didn't go at all, and no one was bothered). This branch was a prime example of why Nando's in other countries don't garner the same passionate following of Nando's in the UK.
