Manchester - Oxford Road - Elliott Waters Review
A quick lunch stop at Nandos Oxford Road was in order to celebrate some good news, and as work is just over the road, it seemed a shame to waste this opportunity to frequent my local (to work) Peri-Peri house.
It was wet and miserable outside (like Manchester always is), but inside was lovely and warm, and didn't take too long to be seated to a table. Asked where I wished to sit, if I wanted a booth, however then couldn't find me a vacant booth. Own goal here Nandos, offer me a booth, and then not able to find a booth. I really wanted to sit in a booth. I like the booths. I had to settle for a corner table instead, which was alright, but it's not a booth is it (OK i'm probably just moaning here). The service was reasonable, took a while to place the order as a large group came in so the cashier went to find them a table, but after ordering, the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The food was nice, although not as good as the previous visit. I had a quarter chicken mango and lime (I try not to be medium all the time!), and there didn't seem to be that much chicken on the leg. I prefer breasts, but sometimes you've got to take one for the Nandos team and hack it with a leg. I tried the salad again, which I sampled for the first time last week in Soho, and it was slightly soggy, although the tomatoes were nice. Didn't strike me as fresh, but then I expect salad isn't a popular dish choice. Also had spicy rice, which was good, I did enjoy the spicy rice.
Overall the trip to Nandos Oxford Road was a good experience. It wasn't exceptional, it wasn't great, it was just good. I was on a tight timeframe, they fed me and met my timeframe. If you've got ages (like I did last time) it's a great restaurant to just sit about, in a booth, and keep filling up your refillable drink to waste the day away.
