Metro Centre - Blue Mall - Ryan Review
This Nando's is located within the Blue Mall of the Metro Centre, so has its own designated parking, but really you can park in any of the coloured car parks (surface and multi-storey) and you have a short walk from wherever you park. For this one, if you can park on the ground floor of the multi-storey and walk through Home Sense/TK Maxx, Nando's is right there. The parking is free and there are thousands and thousands of spaces. In the Metro Centre is an Odeon cinema, a Namco Funscape bowling alley/bar/dodgems/arcade and just about any shop or restaurant you can think of. The Metro Centre has its own train station too.
This Nando's isn't as open plan as the one in the Qube/Yellow Mall as it has a whole row of glass/windows giving a little more privacy. There are a dozen or so tables "outside" as well, which are also quite private anyway, since this Nando's is hidden away slightly underneath an escalator. There are many more booths and large tables in this one compared to The Qube. The back walls have around 12 booths running along them and there are also a couple of large circular tables housed within all of the shelving units. One thing I noticed though is it is much darker than the other one and very reminiscent of "early" Nando's. Everything is in dark wood - so many of the tables, chairs and fixtures/fittings absorb the light - of which there isn't a great deal as most of the lighting is from coned lampshades hanging from the ceiling. There are a few canvas paintings - but the decor here is certainly average.
Arrived here at about 12pm, so it wasn't too busy and the food came in about 15 minutes, with the staff doing as expected.
The food was superb and was just that bit better again compared to my last two Nando's. I was redeeming a whole chicken this time and along with it a large rice and large chips - but what came was an enormous portion of rice and chips. Easily one of the biggest portion of hot, crispy chips I have had. The chicken was perfect too. A big meaty sized portion, smothered in sauce, and piping hot and moist right to the bone. It was truly delicious and I was suitably stuffed afterwards!!
