Mississauga - Ricky Marshall Review
I was extremely excited for my first Canadian Nandos experience! I really did not know what to expect. You are greeted by a giant florescent Nandos sign which can not be missed. However, it is pretty much in the middle of nowhere in a plaza off the 401 Highway. It is completely inaccessible without a car. As I entered, I knew I was in Nandos, it was that smell of piri piri. The waitress asked where I was from, and then mentioned there was an English person who drove 4 hours to reach this Nandos. That is commitment! I felt right at home. The menu was a little different however it does have your Nandos basics e.g. quarter, half or full chicken, burgers, pita. I opted for the 'peri plate'. This consisted of half a chicken breast (or chicken thigh if you so wish), a kebab on a skewer, wings on a skewer and peri chips which unfortunately were not as 'peri peri' as they are in England. I asked for medium chicken and it was as spicy as I expected it to be, but with a lemon zest. This nandos had all spices except mango and lime, (sorry mango and lime fans). I felt as if the chicken was of better quality than the chicken you find in England, which is a plus, and the chips seemed more authentic and somewhat healthier. It was a tad expensive, 19 canadian dollars including tax with a drink. They do NOT do fountain drinks at this nandos. The decor was nice with a friendly nandos atmosphere. All in all, a positive and different nandos experience.
