Last Sunday, three friends and I headed towards Swansea to watch our beloved Arsenal play. En route, we developed a real hankering for chicken, and rather than risk the match day rush in Swansea, we decided to disembark the m4 in a place we had never heard of, let alone knew how to pronounce, to get our fix. The restaurant was situated in a leisure complex, alongside several fast food outlets, a cinema, a bowling alley and a very large car park. I would imagine that of a night time this branch gets busy with people making an evening of things, but Sunday at around 1230 did not appear to be peak time in Nantgarw.

The lack of fellow patrons meant that we were seated immediately, and at table number 1 no less. The waitresses were friendly and attentive, and our orders were placed at the till smoothly and accurately, likely helped by the fact that we knew what we wanted so there was no dilly dallying. Having ordered, we went to collect cutlery, sauces and napkins, all of which were in plentiful supply.

Our party had a mix of Nando's customers - some more regular Nando's goers than others, and some with taste palletes more accustomed to spice. Torn between a wrap and burger, I eventually opted for the mango and lime double chicken fillet burger. When it arrived - just over 10 minutes later - I felt vindicated in my decision. The fillets were dripping with the mango and lime dressing, the meat was cooked very well, and the meal was delivered to our table with a smile. My table mates felt similarly satisfied with their choices - two with half a chicken, and one with an off the menu portobello mushroom and chicken wrap which was prepared with no qualms whatsoever.

All in all we were very happy with our meals, and if you are ever in the Nantgarw area I would recommend this branch. There was also a chair in the men's toilet, which gave us the enjoyable opportunity to speculate as to why it was there. We also remain unaware of the correct pronunciation of Nantgarw, but we know that the Nantgarwonians have a very nice Nando's.
