Was looking forward to this one - a brand new Nando's, so expectations were high! This Nando's is located on the roundabout with The Fountain pub and the High Street. There is a multi-storey for Malden Central almost opposite Nando's which is open 8am-10pm Mon-Fri and Sat 8am-7pm (charging 8am-6:30pm) priced at £0.90/hr. If you fancy a little walk (half a mile), then back down Burlington Road towards the A3 is a B&Q with a large multi-storey and a Currys/PC World, which are for 'customers only' but I managed to park there for an hour... New Malden train station is also a five minute walk from Nando's.

I got here at about 2pm and it was manic. This Nando's has a large porch area with some ivy and stained glass - but because it was very busy, there were some 20 people waiting in here and slightly in towards the till... all waiting for tables. The wall immediately to the right of the entrance (once you get out of the porch) is clad in wood with a dozen or so canvas paintings on it.

This is a good size open plan restaurant. Immediately round to the left as you enter is a curved banquette making several tables. Full length windows then run along the length of the restaurant with tables/chairs in the windows and some wicker lanterns above them. These run right to the back where a red leather banquette at the back wall makes up six or so tables. The back wall is well decorated with paintings and has clear orbs above it for lighting.

Golden lotus flowers spread across a separating wall by till/serving area. The drinks/sauce stations are on one side of this wall (by the till), with a few booths on the other side. There are plenty more tables/chair sets in the middle of all these but very, very close together. The fact that it was so busy with lots of shouting kids made you realise just how in your face the person sat next to you was...

As this was again my first of two Nando's this day, I went for the burger and chips, which came in only four minutes, despite the chaos! It was pretty average though. An average size chicken breast with sufficient sauce cooked nicely - accompanied by an average size portion chips. Hot enough - but a little soggy.

Toilets are entered at the back and are brightly tiled with green and blue diamonds - along with a big yellow marble sink with a large circular round mirror too.

Staff were just about keeping their heads above water...
