Northampton - Sixfields - Ryan Review
This Nando's is on the Sixfields Leisure park. It's just outside the town centre and so is 1.5 miles walk from the train station. There's free all day parking - except when Northampton Town or Northampton Saints are playing at home, so do check the fixtures! Northampton Town (Sixfields stadium) play next door and Northampton Saints (Franklin's Gardens) is just under a mile away. While there is a Cineworld on the same site - this closed on 19/01/25 (so may re-open in the future). The nearest cinema is Vue in the town centre. There is a Tenpin bowling alley on Sixfields also.
This Nando's is quite large and bright. It's split into three distinct seating areas. The central bit it surrounded by ceiling high grey metal patterned gates with a bright orange ceiling and some wavy shell-like lampshades hanging down. It's mostly large rectangular seating here. The sections either side of this have booth/bench seating. There's lots of bright canvas paintings too.
I arrived early afternoon and although it wasn't too busy, it looked as though it had been... I was shown to four different tables at first which all still had piles of plates and glasses and was eventually seated at a two-seater which had two further tables full of plates still and quite a lot of food all over the floor. The found came in a little over 10 minutes - but in the whole time I was there nobody checked on me and nobody cleared any of the tables that I could see... strange.
I went for the spicy rice bowl and this time with thighs so I could get some flamed chicken. The thighs were quite thin and so were rather dry. It was nice to have the cauliflower florets this time - but didn't realise these were served chilled, so while the flavour of them was nice it was a bit weird having the hot broccoli and rice. The rice was a good portion and hot and moist.
