PLACE: Table 18. I have never seen a nando's like this before. Barcelos is proudly displayed at a jaunty angle on a round sign out front. It's the first time I've seen nando's embrace jauntiness. The table was upstairs in a room that felt like someone's living room. Very cozy and dimly lit. All that was missing was a candle and a roaring log fire (idea- imagine a rotisserie corner in selected nando's, wow). No upstairs ordering counter due to space limits. Maybe a FaceTime food ordering system to downstairs would work?- 7/10
HOST: Ilaria, I'm starting to realise that all female chicken artists have exotic names. I've never heard the name Ilaria, but I like it. I liked her too. Se was a dark haired beaut who made sure out order was taken Quickly, Efficiently, Extra Friendly. Maybe nando's should write that acronym on every till- q.e.e.f. 8/10
FOOD: Wow, just wow. Amazing temperature, slightly chewy pitta (which I love). The symphony of flavours was spot on, the mayonnaise evenly hugging the pitta sides and the hot sauce dancing a beautiful salsa with the chicken fillet. A VERY large chicken fillet. Grilled pineapple (unsliced so minus 1 point) and a lovely side leg. As good as it gets when it comes to my classic order. If only I'd ordered PERi chips and coleslaw as well, then it would have been a sure 10. - 8/10
ASIDE: I think my classic order is too expensive. The price for a chicken leg should be £3.05 and the soft drink price should be lowered to £1.95. I think the chicken leg should be offered as a special 'large side' for chicken lovers.
