Norwich - Red Lion - Damien Review
After scattering themselves pretty evenly around the country (with a concentration in London), Nando’s opened up two restaurants back-to-back in a fairly small city. We had a walk about after Riverside, giving our hunger time to reload. The Norwich Red Lion restaurant is situated further from the station and among the high street shops. More spacious than #62, but somehow less inviting (possibly due to lower roofs and the general darkness), the second Norwich Nando’s did everything that is expected. The service wasn’t rude, the turnaround was mostly speedy, the food was of a good quality (though my veggie pitta lacked about half of the extra veg that’s usually thrown in there). It’s just that against what we’d already experienced at Riverside, some of the staff appeared to be a tad indifferent to the customers/service.
We were placed on a table near a corner in the restaurant. This corner also accommodated the staff kitchen entrance and the customer sink. This meant lots of pile-ups and general business near our table. The area just around the corner with the skylights looks like it might have been a better place to be seated. My only other niggle with the building itself was that it smelt quite badly outside the downstairs toilets.
Red Lion was fine, but nothing stood out. Just a regular Nando’s trip.
