Plymouth - Barbican - Anonymous Review
During my visit, I made it clear to the person seating us as well as the person taking our order that I have a gluten free and dairy free allergy. I was assured that was ok and that the meal I chose was gluten free and dairy free.
I was filled with terrible disappointment by the time I got back to the hotel. I experienced horrendous stomach cramps which relates to my gluten allergy. This continues still today, 4 days later.
My food was labelled with the allergy sticker but so was the starter that came to our table, which I ate none of because it had added sauce on it. When we went to check at the till to see if it was gluten free as the label said, the staff member said no as they only have one grill and it wouldn’t have been cleaned before the starter was cooked and that the naan bread had been cooked on the same grill.
Here lies the answer to my horrendous stomach pains and aching body, the grill was not cleaned before cooking a gluten free and dairy free meal!
I am so disappointed with the chefs at Nando’s as an allergy such as this should be taken more seriously!
I hope this feedback with be used going forward so others with the same allergy doesn’t suffer as I am currently!
