This new Nandos in the new and uncompleted Guildhall arts quarter in Southampton is quite nice, however getting to it is a nightmare. In part this is because it is amoungst the first store to be finished and open and thus is in a building site with the road and a lot of the pavement outside still a hoarded off building site. You have to walk down a narrow gap in the hoardings from the north side to reach it. Also there is the fact Southampton is a weird city which hates visitors and in particular visitors in cars, so the roads to it are all blocked off, the parking near it is taken away and the nearest parking is a long walk and costs £1 a half hour on Bedford place.

The store was very empty despite being the opening day due mostly to it being so difficult to get to, the staff were friendly and there was a lot of them in there, 2 to each till, but they were still very very very slow at serving at the counter and i spent about 5 minutes in the small queue. Decor was very good and impressive with lots of black birds going down the wall, round tables in booths going down the centre of the store with yellow faux leather seating around them backed with green tiles. The serving area was bright red and the store felt airey and clean. The toilets were bright and smart too.

The food was on whole good, good size and hot portions of Rice and Peri chips well sprinkled. The chicken skin was a little charred and i had to open up my burger to de skin it as it was giving everything the charred taste though the chicken underneath was fine. I think these teething issues are purely due to being a new store. The staff check backs were good though I'm sure the chocolot cake is now shrinking and is more like a chocoless cake.

A store I am certain to return to, remember the key with this store is get someone else to drive then you don't have the stress of navigating Southamptons ever shrinking road network and then the stress of finding parking.
