Spitalfields Nando's is not located in the complex itself where you will find various food chains such as Las Iguanas, Wagamamas and La Tasca. Why not coincide lunch with a mooch about Spitalfields Market which can cater for all tastes in terms of clothing and jewellery.
The front part of the branch was reasonably busy on this Tuesday lunch time although the back (with lots of high tables for two with stools) was almost empty.
We were warmly welcomed by Kuba who was interested to hear about the website. Even though there was a queue of around 6 people to place our order, it moved quickly as other members of staff noticed and opened up other tills. I was with affiliate Sophie on this visit and we were both licking our lips at the prospect of a whole chicken with a range of sides. The food arrived within 10 minutes and was just as we asked.
I was unable to find any extra extra hot sauce, however, but a member of staff soon came to the rescue and brought it to the table along with some mayonnaise.
One negative aspect which I picked up on (and was not the only person to do so) was the state of the cutlery. I looked at 4 knives before finding one which had been adequately cleaned and I noticed that another man actually gave a handful of unclean knives to a Nandoca as he had clearly had the same problem. For that reason, cleanliness is a 2 but decor is a 4 leaving an average of 3. There is no excuse for dirty cutlery at the end of the day. As for the decor, the huge red heart which greets you on arrival gives this branch a romantic feel (not that that was relevant on my visit) as do the groups of red lights in heart formation above the tills and opposite the sink.
The food itself was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed devouring my half chicken extra hot, large chips and halloumi. I could have gone for dessert but decided against it on this visit, mainly as a favour to my friend who I didn't want to tempt!
Excellent overall but clean cutlery next time please!
