Trowbridge - Pompey Ranger Review
This is a new store on a new leisure development (in fact apart from the Odean cinema and Travel lodge I think this is the only store/restaurant open so far. Nandos are ahead of the game) which despite still not being complete the car park was pretty much full. You get up to 3 hours free parking upon pressing for a ticket and displaying it in your window between 9 and 5pm and parking is free after that. The store has the entrance corner plot and has made good use of the site with impressive curing glass walls and illuminated Barcis it looks impressive from the outside.
Once you get in it doesn't fail to impress. You first have a waiting area for tables and take away as you come in the door (this area was full of expectant customers) and has a metal wicker work wall. Next to this was the till area with 3 busy tills and then the main store. The main features being the hanging wood strips and lighting from the ceiling and the copper hand wash point which was replicated in the impressively clean spacious and well designed toilets. Lots of art work on the walls including one piece that looks like me going on my holidays with a bucket for a centurion.
Despite the deluge of people waiting for tables and the huge queues of people the staff managed to stay friendly and positive, in fact impressively happy. The queues were seen to quick and although it was an average wait for the food it was impressively quick given the number of customers present. Also the food was of an impressive good quality, the chicken was good portion and cooked to perfection just as I like it, the chips were plentiful hot and loads of peri peri salt which I could put on myself. The coleslaw was standard and the bread roll could have been improved with being warm but the chicken was the main star and trumps any other concerns. They did the checks and seemed to genuinely care if it was all ok rather than a box ticking exercise, but the food was grand so no complaint. For dessert I had the toffee Ice cream which was tasty and served up with spoon napkin and plate in a professional manner. When leaving even though they were even more busy the staff still smiled and waved good bye.
Well done Nandos this store rocks.
