Uxbridge - Ryan Review
Was travelling back from a visit down in Ashford, so Uxbridge was a good stop-off point. It's located in The Chimes shopping area, so parking in The Chimes car park means it's just a few minutes walk away. It's reasonably priced too - £1/1hr, £1.20/2hrs, £2.20/3hrs, £2.80/4hrs Mon-Sun and upwards from there from 6am-6pm. Between 6pm and 6am it's just a £1 flat fee. Uxbridge tube station is just a few minutes walk away and there is also an Odeon in The Chimes.
Arrived here at about 7pm and it was only half full over both floors. The staircase to upstairs is immediately as you enter (toliets are also upstairs). There's only one till/serving hatch downstairs so the stairs get very busy. The seating downstairs is all behind the staircase and consists of 15 or so two-seater tables. As 15 tables they are all a bit cramped so a bit tight to get up for refills etc. The decor is almost non-existant downstairs. The walls are all bare except for a couple of plastic mechanical diagrams of some steel girders... Otherwise just completely beige walls with nothing but spot lighting. Upstairs, it's much better. Plenty of booths and plenty of canvas paintings around all the walls giving a nice splash of colour. Different lighting too for extra brightness. Definitely get a seat upstairs. 2 for downstairs, 4 for upstairs... averages to a 3.
Food came in 20 minutes and was as expected. The chips and rice were warm (not piping hot) as was the chicken. It was tasty, but as it had cooled down a bit, there seemed to be a little more grease.
Staff did everything expected of them.
