Whitechapel - Marc Joss Review
It was quite an eventful visit for a warm, relatively quiet Tuesday afternoon!
I was warmly welcomed and chose my table with sofa seating obviously, There was hardly a queue to order and this was of course, new electronic Nando's card day! I decided to check out Whitechapel Nando's having received a gift from Nando's themselves which contained 3 Nando's cards with each of the coloured chillis on them. I had been unable to register my cards online before leaving my house but the website was working once I ordered. Manager Tiago was intrigued as to how I already had rewards on day one and I explained along with photographic evidence. He put my order through with a smile on his face and the food arrived rapidly. I had only just got back to my table so a 5 for service.
The problem was the chicken! My breast piece looked small (this is a Halal Nando's) and the wing was deformed. I informed a Nandoca of the problem and he well and truly addressed it by bringing me a replacement breast piece (wing intact) within minutes. The peri chips were decent and I did try to have all 3/4s but failed miserably. It is known that chicken sizes vary and this is just the nature of the beast but my concern is that a Nando's virgin would be distinctly unimpressed and tempted never to repeat the experience if he were served a breast piece like the one I had here.
The other area letting this Nando's down for me is the decor. As you walk in, all the seating is on your right with very little natural light and rather ordinary artwork. I know this is one of the earliest Nando's and I hate to say it but it shows. Extremely friendly and efficient Nando's combined with great service are the two big plus points for Nando's Whitechapel.
