Comments - Stand out in our monthly competition! What did you eat? Unique aspects? Parking/transport tips?:

Got to this Nando's at about 8pm on a Thursday night. It's located in the Eagles Meadow complex which also has a cinema, bowling alley and other eateries. There are a few car parks nearby - and I parked in Market Street which is free after 5pm! It's only a couple hundred metres walk as well (just over the ring road - head towards the big M&S sign which is in Eagle Meadow). On your way back to the car park, you'll walk down the road in between KFC and Chicken Cottage - the imposters!! :-)

The Eagles Meadow complex seems pretty modern and is nice and clean and this is also true of the Nando's. It seems like a narrow shop frontage, but it opens up as you go inside. The front half has about 15 2/4 seater tables and the back has booth seating. The left hand wall has about 12 smallish brightly coloured canvas paintings to the middle of the restaurant and then the second half of the wall and the back wall has some interesting carvings, which have faces on top of them. Looks like a whole bunch of people/statues are watching you! The ceiling is wood panelled and has a few humps in it - and from these humps hanging down are lights with black lampshades that look like those squeegies you get for the shower! They still give off a lot of light though - and other downlights and spotlights dotted about the place make it a very welcoming restaurant.

Apart from those on the grill, I could only see one other person. I had a few minutes wait to be seated and then to be served by him (Andy) again. There were quite a few empty tables, but a lot of them had plates and empty glasses on. It looked as though there had been a mad rush just before I got there that combined with other staff's break. Andy seemed to be balancing all the people (a steady stream) coming in, serving them and cleaning up quite well though. Always very polite and chatty.

The chicken came in just under 15 minutes and was piping hot. There wasn't much sauce on it though - and some of the skin (albeit it is skin) did taste very greasy. The chips were crisp and hot and the rice was hot and moist though. There were only three bottles of Extra Extra Hot sauce I could see - and there wasn't much sauce in any of them, so much so I ended up emptying all three... Just about enough sauce.

The toilets were nicely decorated too - and very clean, with a Dyson handdryer! :-)
