York - Monks Cross - Gerry Louis Review
With a third Nando's planned later on, a small meal was had at this branch 15 minutes away from the city centre. Accessible by the number 9 bus to monks cross and next to a giraffe, wok to go and an ed's diner.
We got there just after three pm and were greeted straight away by Shano. Allowing us to have table 19 which is literally on top of the counter and grill we ordered five m&l chicken wings, a strawberries and cream and a toffee gelado. Oh my God, Elliott and I ended up swapping ours because I thought the toffee gelado was much better. It had also arrived within about three minutes of us ordering. The chicken wings came in 12 minutes but at least it wasn't like Harrogate. They were hot, smothered in sauce, tasty and meaty and with the gelado to occupy us we weren't left waiting for a long time.
This Is one of the most amazing branches I've come across in terms of decoration. In the top five with covent garden, Woking, Hemel Hempstead and southwark the thread pattern yarn with different colours as the columns, the bulbs hanging from string, the counter design and the artwork, I was very impressed. It's an open plan, one floor Nando's, the tables aren't all squished together and it is lit very well, the ambience there is welcoming. The staff were attentive, friendly and happy which was nice to see they actually enjoy being there. There is also seating outside the branch but it's too cold for that. In summer that place will pop off despite its location as you will either need transport to get there or rely on public transport. The number 9 is a 10 minute regular bus, £3.80 adult return.
