York - Marc Joss Review
A lovely day of sightseeing came to a close with another Nando's visit in the fine company of Marco. This was an important visit as it was my 136th different Nando's visit bringing me level with James and this sure was a memorable visit.
After locating the restaurant easily enough in the rather small York city centre, we were told there would be a short wait for a table which was hardly a surprise for 7pm on a Saturday evening. We were soon told to venture upstairs and were instantly seated near a window in the more luminous part of this Nando's. I went up to order and foolishly gave the wrong table number which happened to be the one I sat at during lunch, disaster! This caused a delay on the food which was completely my fault, but the Nandocas were understanding and rectified everything as quickly as they could.
The food itself was average and I had my usual problem of my breast piece being deprived of the wing! I informed the Nandoca who clocked that I had given the wrong table number and she offered me three extra hot wings to make up for it, peri-fect! My breast piece itself was small and not that saucy, the leg was bigger however but again, not saucy or spicy. Some more peri salt would have been ideal but I made do with what I had and I must say that the wings were amazing. They were spicy, perfectly cooked and dripping in sauce, why can't all the extra hot chicken be like that all the time?!
The restaurant quietened down by 8pm as lots of tables were freed up. On a disappointing note for Marco, the restaurant was out of Mediterranean salads so he went for the avocado one instead. He did enjoy it but it has nothing on his usual I am afraid.
All in all the highlight of this visit was the staff interaction and seeing how they dealt with my confusing and misleading order. Where will Nando's 137 be?
