York - Ryan Review
Just down the road from the Jorvik Viking Centre is this pretty modern Nando's (inside). With it being in York City Centre, parking can be at premium depending on where you park. I paid £5.40 for 3 hours at Union Terrace car park - and other car parks, such as the one at the foot of Clifford's Tower, will be more. Great parking locations though, just a few minutes to wherever you need to be in York.
Inside there seems to have been a recent coat of bright white paint splashed around making it seem clean and modern. Some interesting large canvas paintings too - but just not enough, leaving a lot of blank space up and downstairs. About 15 tables downstairs but then a further 25 (maybe more) upstairs. Most of the tables have leather-cushioned seats, making a nice change to purely wooden seating. Some nice lighting too and a good standard of pots/plants. Much more artwork would have made this an excellent branch.
10 tables in use downstairs with only 2 in use upstairs, so pretty quiet - but I guess it was 4pm on a Thursday. This meant no time to wait or order and just under 15 minutes for the food to come.
I had a full loyalty card so had the whole chicken with two large sides of rice and chips. The chicken was fantastic. A little drier than the chicken I had in Leeds the day before, but still cooked really well with plenty of sauce. Slightly smaller portion of rice too - but still very tasty.
Staff were friendly enough too - making sure everyone was happy and okay.
