This was my third visit to Nando’s this week, and by far the best. After a disappointing trip to Durham Nando’s, (Which was supposedly the second best in the country) I hoped that another magnificent city in the north would have an awesome Nando’s and be able to represent the Nando’s of the North! We got into York about 2pm and headed straight to Nando’s, It’s about 10 minutes’ walk from the train station if you know where you’re going but it’s easy to get lost in the streets full of shops, eventually I found it using my ‘Nando’s Sense’ though I could have just used the maps on this site, but I prefer to show off my superpower.

There’s so much to do in York, It’s a must see city. It has the magnificent gothic cathedral York Minster which is expensive to get into, but well worth a visit, plus you can climb the huge tower and get a fantastic view of this amazing city. There’s a castle, some big museums such as the National Railway Museum and The JORVIK Viking Centre. And of course there are lots and lots of shops to keep the women you may have dragged to Nando’s entertained and happy for the day, I know this was the situation with my visit!

The nearest parking to this Nando’s is about 5 minutes’ walk away I believe and expensive about £2 per hour, however York has five Park and Ride car parks outside of the city which are a lot cheaper.

Speed of Service – The branch was full downstairs when we arrived, but it has a lot more seating upstairs which was not being used, however we got seated immediately and there was no queue to order, so we were sat back down waiting for our food within 2 minutes of arriving. The food took about 10 minutes to arrive, which is good as you get to sit and wait excited for it, but don’t start getting angry at the lack of food. So 3/5 for Speed of Service.

Friendliness of Staff – The staff at this branch were nice and friendly, the Nandoca who served me was smiley and was happy to change my order when I realised I’d forgotten to get Peri-salt on my chips, We got asked twice during our meal if everything was okay, once near the beginning and a second time during the middle of eating, I thought this was good because we were given the chance to order more food if we had changed our mind since the beginning of the meal. 4/5 for Friendliness of Staff.

Food – Now food, the most important thing! It was delicious, it was amazing. (And they actually had Garlic bread and Peri-salt, I’ll never forgive you Durham.) The portion of chips was hugeee, I was glad I hadn’t ordered large chips, and they were cooked perfectly, not too burnt and not too hot when I got them, and they had sooo much peri-salt on it was unbelievable, they just tasted amazing. The garlic bread was great nice and crispy, just how I like it. And of course the chicken, I had Butterfly chicken extra-hot, It was some of the best chicken I have ever had, and my girlfriend said the same about hers, It was cooked to perfection, not burnt or undercooked, coated in extra-hot sauce, I hadn’t enjoyed a Nando’s this good since Earls Court weeks ago, This was some of the best food I have EVER had. They also had all the drinks, (Another stab at you Durham) and plenty of sauces available. 5/5 for this branch.

Décor – There’s nothing really that special about the décor, it’s a lovely branch though, nice and cosy downstairs with lots of plants around the room, It has nice comfy chairs for the tables near the windows, though the height of them makes it harder to reach your food. It has a very large upstairs which was hardly being used, I assume this comes in useful for weekends when the branch must get packed, York, being the size that it is, really needs another Nando’s, or another few Nando’s. The walk to the toilet is long, all the way up the stairs and through a few rooms, I heard a bunch of people talking about how they nearly accidently walked into the kitchen, and this didn’t stop me almost doing this myself! But they were nice and clean with a very nice sink and Dyson Airblades. So 4/5 for Décor.

So with all this considered, this is my new favourite branch in the North, I will definitely return here, this really made up for my disappointing trip to Durham earlier in the week and I left feeling very happy, York is an amazing city and has an amazing Nando’s, so get yourself there. I would give this branch a 5/5 overall!
