Nando's today confirmed the new Walsall restaurant should be opening its doors on May 1st. It is also going to be a 125-seater restaurant, so should have plenty of room.

The full story can be read on the Express and Star website - and of course, this has also increased the rumour rating on our Opening Soon & Restaurant Rumours page!

I think you will find the majority of Walsall's population is not Muslim. You maybe thinking of the poorer sub areas such as Palfrey and Birchills which are predominantly Muslim populated. It angers me that many restaurants serve Halal meat and we do not know about it. There should be a choice to eat it or not, therefore I will not be going to Nando's as you are not given that choice.

A Muslim would not not eat Halal meat so why should a Christian or another religion or atheist have to eat halal?!

Relying on religion to how you eat ! Pathetic... stick to cook books instead of books of fairytales !

Why hasn't this been confirmed yet? Nandos Walsall was meant to open on 1st May, it's been pushed back to 8th May, surely you're chicken supplier is already in place?

Please can you update us on the position. Thanks.

I am displeased to say i have found out today that walsall nando's will not be halaal.
Dont understand what ppl have against halaal meat, u dont complain when ur shoving curry down ur fat greasy throats every friday and saturday night! And nandos isnt even british its originated from south africa and is based on a portugese theme! Uneducated people in this town makes me ashamed of living here!

Unhappy person - it appears you may be one of the uneducated people that live here. For one thing, it's not a vendetta against halal meat. I for one am forbidden by my faith to eat Halal, just as you are no doubt required to eat it. And as the majority of the population are not Muslim, there is a greater need for non-Halal meat. And ignorant comments suggesting that we all shove curries down our apparently oversized, well oiled throats on Fridays and Saturdays, do nothing but to bring shame on yourself. The issue is not where the food originates, but how it is prepared. Feel free to wallow in your self-induced shame!

Hello, I hope this nandos is not halal as it is against my religion to eat halal meat. Islam will punish me if I eat halal meat.

I'm coming over to nandos now. Table for one please. Gotta get me some double bacon sausage burgers.

Salam

I'd much prefer a non-halal reastaurant.

Less Pakistanis there, and will I be able to get a slice of bacon on my chicken burger?

What the halal?'s picture

This is England! We don't need halal meat served in our restaurants.

Want halal? Go to an Islamic country. Simple!

99% Indian restaurant and takeaways serve halal meat, Even over 80% restaurants in China town serve halal beef and chicken, Id love to see the folks against it not go to these places. Also non-halal meat and halal meat may come from the same farm its only the slaughter process being different. Theres no muslims against normal meat ive never heard anyone complain, if its not halal we stay away. As someone touched earlier branches in wolverhampton and star city thrive, you still get a fair amount non muslims customers go in. Love to see the folks against ditch there saturday night takeaway.LOL

I dont eat halal meat nor do I eat kosher meat or voodoo slaughtered meat..Depending on the community practising Voodoo, animal sacrifice is an offering to the spirits (Lwa). the said food is then shared with the community after the sacrifice. Voodoo is exactly the same as both kosher and halal, sacrificed to a god then consumed by many but only one is illegal??
