Ashford Nandos is consistently a mixed bag in terms of reviews. The staff are always outstanding. These guys love what they do and are glad for the custom. But the biggest problem I have with them is the turnaround of service. This is particularly problematic if you're having a quick bite before going to the movies.

We sat fairly close to the kitchen so could see they were all happy, laughing and enjoying themselves but perhaps a little more focus is required; I saw them drop a cob of corn (it's OK, they put it in the bin!) and mess up several orders. Chicken would hit the plates and then wait for 5 minutes before the chips / rice / coleslaw / corn would get there. The result is a plate of mis-matched temperatures.

Yesterday's chicken was noticeably tough and stringy. Not the usual moist and tender meat you associate with Nandos. Also the wings were burnt beyond recognition (and the charcoal disintegrated on the plate). Now me, I like a bit of blackened chicken so that wasn't so bad, but I don't think most people would have appreciated it.

I had a halloumi starter (perfect), half chicken (loads of sauce, but substandard bird), rice (perfect) and coleslaw (perfect).
