Basingstoke - St Michael's - Ryan Review
This Nando's is located on the new St Michael's retail park - which is an extension to Brighton Hill Retail Park. There are hundreds of free parking spaces spread across both retail parks. Basingstoke train station is a 2 mile walk away.
Seems odd that this extension to Brighton Hill has been done, especially when there is a huge Toys R Us empty... but hey ho.
Walking up to this Nando's is very impressive. There is a large cylindrical frame with plants growing over it on the outside. The frame has lots of wooden two-seater tables dotted around it. Inside, there's another smaller frame to the right of the entrance with seating underneath this. There are booths to the left of the entrance and to the right of the till area. Lots of colourful canvasses on the walls with lighting made up from black domes and bright colourful lanterns for lightshades. Toilets were sparkling clean with the green/brown theme continuing along with a painted wooden disc.
Arrived here around 3:30pm and there was only one other table in use so the food came quickly in under 10 minutes. I went for the sunset burger and chips. The thigh fillets were quite thin but were saucy and slathered in the cheese and chutney. The chip portion was rather small and actually too hot! They came straight out the fryer and were still a bit oily.
There was an abundance of staff - at one point seven all gathered by the entrance waiting for people to come in... they were friendly enough but doing as expected.
