Stuck in yet another traffic jam prompted me to have a few miles detour and pop into this delightful branch of Nando's. It's in The Rock shopping centre and parking after 6pm (or was it 6:30pm?) is free - so great location and value! A very short walk out the ground floor exit and you are at Nando's.
Not sure when this branch opened, but it looks very modern. The main entrance opens to a central aisle that leads you to the counter - meaning there's also plenty of place to queue (if you have to). Either side of the aisle is a long booth (backing onto the aisle). The booths then have several tables along it to break it up into separate seating areas. There's also plenty of different size tables and chair combos meaning any size of party seems to be able to be accommodated at this branch. In fact there was a party of 18 that were already seated on one long table when I arrived - and there seemed to still be plenty of space.
Nice wooden sculpted ceilings with bright lighting fixtures, together with two walls of full length windows facing out to the street makes for a very light branch. Multiple artwork pieces resting against the walls too on your left - so all in all, very nice. Toilets were spotless as well - along with bright lime green sinks!
Even though it was maybe 3/4 full, there was no wait for a table or to order - and the food came in under 10 minutes.
Food was a mixed bag really. There were parts of the chicken that were really succulent - piping hot and drenched in sauce, but then turn it over and black as the ace of spades, really burnt. Very small breast too. Not sure how to mark this... the chicken that was fine was really nice... Hmmmm. Very good size portion of rice and chips too.
What makes this branch though are the staff. Although not a lot of banter with me (obvioiusly knew I like to concentrate on munching my chicken) - the conversation with many many others was free-flowing. Very helpful and attentative and the staff between themselves seemed to really get on. Good stuff.
