Due to Durham's ludicrous road system we had to cross over the bridge a few times and also go round the houses quite a bit before we were able to find the car park for this leisure and retail complex. We eventually found the multi storey car park entrance off the waterfront next to a travel lodge. Parking was only 1.50 after 6pm but a lot more expensive for a daytime visit. We took the lift to the top which then comes out on road level due to the hills of Durham. Lots of pubs, and restaurants with lots of glammed up locals milling about and a few Durham students with their very different dress code. The well lit terrace overlooks the river and could be quite nice in summer as evident by the masses of outdoor seat both for Nandos inbetween the Chiquitos and Ask that hem the store.
The staff were bubbly when we entered and were pleasing on the eye. The store interior is high at the front with plenty of decoration and lighting, at the back the ceiling is much lower due to the mezzanine flooring which provides a small amount of upstairs seating which wasn't in use and also the toilets which were clean.
Food arrived after a time and was cooked spot on with plenty of sauce, chips were well cooked and piping hot and the side salad crisp and tasty though I think the staff were shocked when someone ordered one.
Was happy with the service received here and I believe any town would be content with a store like this (though not grateful for the stupid road system.
