Leeds - White Rose - Archive Review
This was my first visit to White Rose full-stop, and I only came because I won the RYN meal platter prize. I did want to smash all of the food alone, without assistance, but I thought it was Mother's Day so I would do something wonderful with the birth bringer that I love.
I have to admit, I was very impressed with the service and the unique style of the benches that are technically outside the front of the restaurant. Hadn't seem them in any other branch. We arrived quite literally just in time. Few tables left and no sooner than we had sat down the next couple of groups of diners were having to wait.
Now, upon entry we were greeted by a chirpy chap with a big smile and some pleasant, humour filled conversation. This was great, it really set the mood off right. He let us pick the table that we wanted, and I have to say this doesn't happen a great deal often and really adds some ownership to ones dining experience.
Overall I have to say all of the staff were pleasant and cheerful and couldn't be more helpful. They truly are a testament to the brand.
With almost £40 worth of free Nando's to destory, we started as we meant to go on. With starters, obviously. We went with the red pepper dip and houmous, the whole chicken (hot - didn't want to push her) with chips and corn on the cob, and some frozen yoghurt and choc-a-lot cake with clotted cream.
I ordered the food and failed in implementing the Nando's Efficency System (NES) so had to do two trips back to get cutlery, sauces, drinks etc. However, upon completion of prep tasks and a minute or two to congratulate ourselves on the feast we were about to experience for free, our starter was there. Nailed it guys, THAT is exactly the service I want.
The food was excellent, couldn't fault it at all. Probably the hottest chips I've had from Nando's for a while, and I understand they are easy to go cold but these were excellent.
Having never been before I may have to make the White Rose Nando's my new default for Leeds. My only error was not parking close enough to the nearest exit to Nando's in the HUGE free car park. But that is one mistake I made, and one I will not make again. I want minimum delay in getting to my peri-peri and I have learned. But yeah, FREE PARKING and buckets of it. Kirkstall is good for parking as well but The Light is just a bit too difficult nowadays.
Thank you so much to RYN for the competition, if it wasn't for you I may never have frequented this fine establishment. Truly an honourable branch, and one that should be defended at all costs. NDL
