Loughborough - Pompey Ranger Review
This new store in the city centre within a purpose built centre Baxter gate surrounding a Cineworld cinema and a nice piazza pedestrianised area out front that the store utilises with some outdoor seating and giant tree planters. White stonework and large windows some of which pull back to bring the outdoors in.
In the middle ceiling is a bright orange large climbing wall like structure abutting a equal bright orange angular hollow. The store is separated by a very useful chain wall in colour that in one way breaks the areas in a colourful way but can also be seen through like giant net curtains. There is raised booths in the middle section next to the sink and the sauce centre. Along the wall is lower tables and form seats.
The lights are angular and triangulated, toilets were calm and green with a large green trough sink again very clean.
The person who welcomed us in was very welcoming and friendly and showed us to the table of our choice.
This nice experience now falls apart as it turns out the griller previously worked in the temple of Vulcan Roman god of fire preparing burnt offerings and couldn't resist turning our meal into a incinerated offering of dried out burnt carcass. The server obviously spotted this as when they dropped (lit) at our table they ran. When we managed to get someone back to complain about the dried out leathery charcoal flavoured mess and told them it was burnt, dried out and nasty their response ? "yeah, sorry about that, can I get you any sauces for it". We stared in disbelief and they walked off. This store fails the food was dreadful, I know its new and I hope they change from the incineration approach to cooking.
No one said good bye to us as we left after pushing the burnt remains around our plate for a while. Brilliant décor dreadful chicken.
